“Self-protection of girl can only rescue them form any abuse”: District Child Protection Officer says at International Day of the Girl Child event

Save the Children & SWATI collaborated for a public event at the district level. to commemorate International Day of the Girl Child. Mrs Rasmita Karan,DCPO the chief guest in the programme. This public event brought together an over115 strong audience to highlight issues surrounding the girl child and to empower girls to feel safe in the school and villages. 11 October this year marks the fifth anniversary of International Day of the Girl Child. Declared an international observance day in 2012 by the United Nations, it marks an annual celebration of girls across the globe, and reminds us of the barriers they face and the challenges they must overcome.
‘Self-protection of girl can only rescue them form any abuse. So we have to confident enough & unite’ said Rasmita Karan.More than 100 children took pledge against Child Marriage & violence against them in the district of Kandhamal.
At the event, 11 girl champions rewarded for their notable effort to stop child marriage & re enrollment of adolescent girls in formal education
